Katheline Cortes graduated from Harvard University with her Bachelor of Arts in History. She went on to earn her master’s degree from the University of Miami in the field of History and her law degree from Boston College, School of Law.

Born and raised in Miami-Dade County, Kat sought to give back to and protect her community. She was afforded the opportunity to serve as an Assistant State Attorney for the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. Due to her level of success as both a highly ethical and skilled prosecutor, as well as her determination to pass on her knowledge through helping train others, she was selected to be a Division Chief. Kat diligently served the Miami-Dade community as a Division Chief for over thirteen years. During her time at the State Attorney’s Office, Kat tried over forty homicides and a multitude of other violent crimes including sexual battery cases.

Kat is passionate about helping those in need. Both as a prosecutor and now as an employment law attorney, she is known for fighting for people’s rights and standing up for anyone who has been unlawfully wronged. She has a firm belief that no one should be discriminated against based on factors out of their control, such as race, gender, age, and other similar characteristics, and further believes that such discrimination is unacceptable.

Kat is both a skilled negotiator and successful trial attorney. When possible, she seeks to resolve matters as expeditiously as possible through settlement; however, she does not hesitate to litigate her cases through to a jury verdict in pursuit of justice for her clients.

Interesting facts about Kat:
Kat is a dog mom to a senior dog and is a true animal lover. In her free time, she loves to read anything she can get her hands on, whether it is non-fiction, fiction, or great works of literature and beyond.
