Timothy J. Prol

Attorney

Biographical Info

Timothy J. Prol, Esquire is a seasoned litigator at Derek Smith Law Group whose courtroom experience spans state, administrative, and federal courts. Known for taking cases the distance, Tim has secured significant victories for his clients, including a recent federal judgment in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania totaling $218,290.34, and a track record of settlements that frequently exceed seven figures. His practice is anchored in discrimination and sexual harassment litigation, and he brings to every case the rare confidence of an attorney who has sat at counsel’s table and won.

Tim’s litigation instincts were forged across a diverse legal career. Before joining Derek Smith Law Group in March 2023, he represented clients in Worker’s Compensation, Administrative Law, and Collective Bargaining matters at Alterman & Associates, arenas where advocacy is tested under pressure and results matter. That foundation, combined with his experience as Counsel to the New Jersey Law Revision Commission and as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Steven F. Nemeth of the Ocean County Superior Court, gave him a command of the law, both in the books and in practice, that he brings to bear on every client’s fight.

A graduate of Rutgers University School of Law and a Rutgers Eagleton Institute of Politics Raimondo Legislative Fellow, Tim has always operated at the intersection of law and public service. He has served as Director of Operations and Compliance Officer for the New Jersey Primary Care Association, Director of Policy and Planning for current New Jersey Senate President Nicholas P. Scutari, and as a former Adjunct Professor of Wills, Trusts, and Estates at Rowan College of South Jersey. He has been licensed to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania since 2014, and holds a summa cum laude degree in Finance from Kean University, where he also served as the Voting Student Member of the Board of Trustees.
