Awa Henderson acquired her Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York College at Buffalo where she majored in Criminal Justice. Following graduation, Ms. Henderson worked as a Paralegal at a Family Law firm in Brooklyn, New York. Ms. Henderson played an intricate role in preparing pleadings for child neglect, adoption, child support, and termination of parental rights cases.

Ms. Henderson then went on to work in the area of personal injury. She worked as a Paralegal at one of the nation’s premier law firms featuring highly acclaimed mesothelioma lawyers. As a Paralegal, Ms. Henderson worked closely with victims of asbestos exposure who were exposed to asbestos in often overlooked non-occupational settings.

In law school, Ms. Henderson held numerous internship positions which included, working with the Orange County District Attorney’ s office. While at Whittier Law, she served as a Student Bar Association Representative, as well as a member of the Whittier Trial Advocacy Team. Ms. Henderson graduated with a Concentration in Trial Advocacy.

Ms. Henderson is a zealous advocate for justice and is excited to be a new addition to the Derek Smith Law Group Team.
