Daniel Altaras is currently a senior employment attorney with the Derek Smith Law Group. Mr. Altaras focuses his practice on representing employees in employment discrimination, sexual harassment, civil rights, and wage and hour cases.
During his time at Brooklyn Law School, Mr. Altaras worked as the Executive Articles Editor for the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. He also earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in International and Foreign Law Research as well as the Silver Brooklyn Law School Bro Bono Award.
Prior to joining the Derek Smith Law Group, Mr. Altaras worked as an employment defense attorney in New York City. As an employment defense attorney, Mr. Altaras represented employers in federal and state court litigation, defending his clients against claims of employment discrimination, retaliation, and sexual harassment. As a result, Mr. Altaras brings his invaluable insight of defense side litigation strategy to anticipate and outmaneuver his opponents in the courtroom.
Mr. Altaras handles everything from pleadings through trial including drafting pleadings, discovery motions, and dispositive motions; attending court conferences and motion hearings; managing depositions; and preparing settlement documents. Mr. Altaras’s fierce advocacy and dedication has yielded in millions of dollars in settlements on behalf of his clients.
