FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NEW YORK, NY – December 17, 2025 – J. John Bral, Esq. of The Derek Smith Law Group, counsel for plaintiff Emaza Dilan Gibson, issues this statement to correct false statements made by Jason Derulo regarding the ongoing litigation.
During a recent national media appearance, Mr. Derulo falsely claimed the lawsuit had been dismissed in its entirety “in two states.” This is a gross mischaracterization of the proceedings.
Previously, a preliminary filing in California was dismissed on a procedural technicality (a forum selection clause). The court did not rule on the merits of the case.
The active lawsuit, containing the core allegations of sexual harassment, illegal retaliation, breach of contract, and other claims, remains fully pending in New York State Supreme Court.
Mr. Derulo’s attempt to portray procedural matters as a vindication is misleading. Our client, Emaza Dilan, has shown great courage in coming forward. A public campaign of misinformation compounds the distress she has endured.
We will continue to aggressively litigate this matter in court, where facts prevail. We will also continue to correct the public record to protect our client’s reputation from being tarnished by false narratives.
We remain fully committed to securing justice for Emaza Dilan Gibson.
